Figure 1 shows SEM photos of a corroded aluminum wire that's bonded to the die (first bond). Figure 2 shows SEM photos of a corroded aluminum wire that's bonded to the package (second pond). Note the presence of corrosion byproducts in all photos.
High concentrations of Cl would normally show up during EDX analysis of such bonds and wires.
